Kansas City and Shows03 Oct 2006 08:55 pm

I’m really looking forward to this weekend. I have Friday and Saturday night shows at O’Malley’s Irish Pub, the coolest Irish pub around. I love performing there, 100 feet below the Earth’s surface. They have great food, great drinks, and the friendliest staff anywhere. It’s always worth the drive –for you– or the train ride –for me!

In addition to O’Malley’s, I will be at the Country Club Plaza Art Fair on, of course, the legendary Country Club Plaza in beautiful Kansas City, MO. Come join me among the fountains, the great shopping and food, and the great artists from around the country!I’m at O’Malley’s both nights from 8PM to Midnight, and Saturday evening at the Plaza Art Fair, from 5PM to 6:30PM.

The Irish community, and music lovers across Saint Louis can rejoice at the soon coming Dubliner Pub. The Dubliner will join great pubs like John D. McGurks, Castletown Geoghan, Danny O’Toole’s, O’Connell’s, Llywellyn’s, and Scottish Arms in offering Old World pub charm, and Irish Music to our waiting ears. The Dubliner (http://www.dublinerstl.com/) will be at 1025 Washington, at the east end of Saint Louis’ fine avenue of arts. Look for it to open in the middle of September, and hope to see such musical luminaries as Jonathan Ramsey performing the magic there.

Cheers!

Jonathan

Mania that Pervades Jonathan's Soul and Saint Louis03 Oct 2006 08:53 pm
Pluto may have been downgraded, last week, but I’m upgrading Walgreen’s in Saint Louis Hills. Not to “planet” status, but to “Nexus of the Universe” status. That’s right.Ok, let me back up just a little. We all have those “magical” places where we feel enlightened. It may be the desert with a little peyote, or the top of a mountain in Nepal. For many it’s the driver’s seat of their car. And often, it requires music. Yes, it requires hearing those pop hits that will forever delight, tickle, or horrify us. The songs that we can’t get out of our heads can sometimes show us magical truths. For me, this seems to happen at Walgreen’s where R&B crema flows from the overhead speakers. Here, every month, those decades old words, that I’ve long felt were devoid of any sense, much less insight, suddenly strike me as profound truths.

Last night, I realized that, yes, sometimes the snow DOES come down in June. And yes, sometimes… the sun goes ’round the moon.

Ok, I’m kidding, but seriously, last month, a new voice took those old words, and I realized that truly there ain’t no mountian high enough, ain’t no valley low enough, ain’t no river wide enough, to keep Michael McDonald away from me.

Man, do I get bored waiting for my prescriptions.
