It’s been a while since I’ve put a new free MP3 up. So, here’s a snarling tribute to Fiach MacHugh O’Byrne, Follow Me Up To Carlow. This is Podsafe, and released under a Creative Commons Non-Commercial, Attribution, Share-alike license. That means you can copy it, give it to your friends, make videos with it. If you do something fun with it, let me know. I’d like to see.

Here’s a little holiday cheer. It’s a happy song about loss of consciousness during the festive Yule season.

Christmas in Catatonia is available right here with the very open Creative Commons attribution, non-commercial, share-alike license. So, feel free to share with anyone you like, and you are even free to create any derivative work you like, such as a video, or mix it into a house track. (Trance might be easier with this one, and more festive.)

Have fun. And don’t poke your eye out.

It was a night of Irish Music in St Louis. Here’s the first MP3 from my show Wednesday night at Cruisin’ Route 66. It’s actually number 27 on the setlist, but it’s one that I haven’t put up for a while.

This is a free MP3, podsafe, and free to share.

Here’s also a photo that Rachel sent me.

Cheers!

New York City: 9/11 Memorial Park Commemorating the Fallen, the Brave, the HeroesAll right! Here’s another track from Friday evening’s in-store performance at Borders in lovely St Peters, MO. Thanks so much to the people who came out, that evening. Special thanks to the fine students from O’Fallon West, and every other high school represented. You guys were a lot of fun!

Also, as 11 September comes around a bit too fast for me, each year, I still find myself in a bit of a navel-gazing remembrance mode, today. So, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the heroism of the first responders, and the strong attitudes that make me lovingly miss being in the city that never sleeps, than to offer this biting tale of an iconic arse-kicking New Yorker.

Writing this one makes me need tissues. BRB…

So, here is the Big… Strong… Man!

Golden Handles - I know! I know! This is cheerier than a coffin. Here is the first free MP3 from Friday night’s show at Borders in St Peters, MO. The crowd participation rivaled that of many pubs. Normally, I wouldn’t have done this song in a bookstore or coffee house setting.

Border St Peters, MO has been officially rockedI had a great time, Friday evening, at the Border in St Peters, MO. Thank you to all my new friends, and old friends, there, for making it such a good time. Thanks to the students of O’Fallon West High School, and all other schools well represented that night.

If you have photos and video, just leave me a comment, and I’ll go check them out.

The recording came out well, so I’ll post some MP3s, here and on MySpace. So, watch for that in the next few hours and days.

Paris HiltonLast month, I was riding the Metrolink, and it struck me that I hadn’t heard anything about Paris Hilton for a few weeks. That’s no longer true, since Granddad Hilton announced the inheritance amendments, a week or so ago.

Anyway, I wrote this song, a followup to a song I wrote during the Paris/Sheriff/Judge fiasco.

I’m publishing this under the Creative Commons non-commercial, attribution, share-alike license, so play around with it, if you like. You can also freely share it, as long as you freely share it for free.

Cheers!

Jug O’ Naught from Project GutenbergThe coffeehouse rocked with a little musical taste of punch –proof unknown. Enjoy this tasty tidbit of musical history. It’s a traditional song, and, as usual, I’ve released the recording under the Creative Commons Attribution, Non-Commercial, Share-Alike license. This allows for sharing the song with friends, making videos, and for use in sampling and rapping over. So, be creative, if you like. I’d love to see or hear anything you come up with.

Bake Sale to Save the Whales Banner - Greenpeace.orgHere’s a track from my show, last weekend, at Hartford Community Coffee. “Bonny Ship the Diamond” is, of course, what else, sung from the perspective of randy Scottish whalers preparing to sail off and find their great fortune in blubber. Of course, this song is a bit ironic for me, in that I wholly believe that this practice has no place in the modern world. Whale populations are in grave danger. I’ll have to put up my song from the whale’s perspective.

Again, since this is a traditional song, I own no rights to the original words –as it were. This recording is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution, Non-Commercial, Share-alike License. So, feel free to make copies and give to your friends, family, whalers you meet on the street in your town. You can also make derivative works, like music videos, samples, and so on. I’d like to hear about it, because that’s fun, of course. Otherwise, you don’t need to contact me about it, unless it’s for commercial purposes.

Cheers!
